The Office of Housing & Residence Life at Northampton Community College is committed to the development of a safe and inclusive living- learning community, which fosters academic, social, cultural, and personal growth. As a key member of the Housing & Residence Life team, the Graduate Resident Director will help to oversee the development and safety of our on-campus community. The Graduate Resident Director (GRD) will assist the full-time Resident Directors in the daily operations of residential community. This position will primarily focus on the development of the Living/Learning Communities at NCC and student engagement efforts. The GRD will work with the student staff to help assist in the oversight and development of the Residence Hall Programming Board. This board is a student-driven initiative to get non-student staff members engaged in their community and help plan large-scale social events for the entire residential population. This position will also help to survey residents, get data points for the Residence Life staff, and assist with all assessment projects. The GRD works very closely with all of the Housing & Residence Life staff to build a living and learning environment that fosters opportunities for student development, growth, and transformative experiences. This position is considered part-time and will also include evening and weekend on-call support to the residential community. This position is a 10-month, live-in position within the Office of Housing & Residence Life for individuals who are looking for an opportunity for a comprehensive and valuable experience. The contract is for one academic year and is renewable based on job performance and continuance in a Master's Program. This position includes housing (furnished apartment) and a meal plan. •Filling of position contingent upon funding•

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Community Development & Engagement:

Get to know residents on campus and be available to them in your office, virtually, and at programs; Respond to students in a timely manner, especially those in distress; Demonstrate respect for residents with different lifestyles and opinions; Become familiar with resources on campus so that you can appropriately guide students; Survey the residents, as appropriate, to continue to receive feedback to help us improve the housing program overall. Work to further develop and enhance the Residential Curriculum and Living/Learning Communities by planning and executing events to engage student development.

Student Staff:

Assist with the weekly/bi-weekly/monthly staff meetings, which can include helping to form the agenda and running the meetings along with the other Resident Directors. Help to provide feedback and guidance to the CAs/RAs, as well as assist with their evaluations; Assist with the recruitment of CAs/RAs and the selection process; Assist with overseeing the CAs/RAs' programming throughout each semester to ensure they're hitting their goals and properly running the programs; Help to ensure programs are properly spaced out and not conflicting with other campus events;

Policy & Student Discipline:

Ensure that you have knowledge of the Residence Life Handbook, housing contract, and other important documents; Properly respond to issues of policy violations and document as needed. Serve as a hearing officer for lower/medium level cases of alleged student conduct violations, or as needed.

On-Call Duty:

Serve in the emergency on-call rotation for RA support; Follow all duty requirements, such as being on campus (or within five minutes) when on-call; Properly document incidents and submit incident reports; Act as a mandated reporter as required by law; Properly utilize access to master keys, student rooms, etc. Follow all procedures when responding to on-call incidents, contacting Public Safety, 911, Admin On-Call as needed.

Housing Operations:

Work with the Resident Directors on check-ins, check-outs, student moves, roommate mediations, etc. Properly notify Maintenance and Housekeeping of any issues and concerns, as needed; Ensure follow up to any outgoing Maintenance and Housekeeping issues; Assist in overseeing the operations of the Front Desk in the

Participate in Student Staff and Professional Staff trainings in August and January Attend bi-weekly professional staff meetings and one-on-one meetings Participate in other professional development opportunities as offered
