Admissions Job Description Summary:
The successful incumbent will participate in all aspects of the university admission cycle and should have a strong interest in contributing to office wide efforts to recruit the most academically and personally distinguished students. The incumbent should also have an interest in current-student engagement, the campus visit experience and will be a key contributor to the Campus Experience Team. Responsibilities will include representing the university in a variety of settings, evaluating applications, and participating in the admission committee process, managing a particular geographic territory for purposes of prospect cultivation and application review, conducting group information sessions for prospective students and families, and supporting recruitment and yield events. Additional responsibilities may include but not be limited to: supervising student volunteers, event programming, engagement in electronic, online and print communication efforts, and/or participation in other admission and recruitment endeavors. Specific responsibilities may include some of the following, but are not limited to:
  • Serve on the Campus Experience Team in oversight of the campus tour guide program.
  • Coordinate with campus partners to organize annual student training as well as professional development opportunities for student volunteers.
  • Update and maintain student volunteer training and policy materials.
  • Support the Director of the Campus Experience Team in building the visit calendar.
  • Review and implement visitor feedback, surveys, and data.
  • Conduct information sessions and represent the office through high school visitations and participation at college day and evening programs.
  • Read and evaluate applications for admission including primary responsibility for one or more geographic regions.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent level of education, experience, and training. General knowledge of college and university programs, majors, admission requirements, and processes. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills to include Internet browsers, social media platforms, and
Microsoft Office:
Word, Excel, and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and navigate multiple projects providing a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to accurately disseminate information to a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member utilizing a high level of interpersonal skills.
Assistant Dean Level:
Prior experience, typically two or more years of admission or related professional experience.
Senior Assistant Dean Level:
Prior experience, typically five or more years of admission or related professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a selective liberal arts & sciences college/university setting as a student and/or employee. Previous experience supervising student volunteers or employees, serving in leadership capacity within student organizations, and/or event programming experience. Previous experience working in an admission or college-counseling office, including as a student or volunteer.
Conditions of Employment:
As part of recruitment travel, this position often requires individual driving as well as group travel, including evenings and travel in congested/heavy-traffic situations. Must be able to maintain a valid Driver's License. Occasional overnight travel is required. Periodic evening and weekend work is required.

  • Represent the university to students, parents, high school counselors, and alumni both on and off campus. This includes group information sessions, attending college fairs, and visiting high schools, in addition to responding to individual inquiries about the admission process and the university via phone, email, social media, and in person. 30%
  • Participate fully in the application review process by conducting thorough, holistic reviews of individual applications, and by contributing to the committee selection process, with the expectation of managing multiple regional territories during the admission cycle. 30%
  • Oversight of the campus tour guide program to include supervision of student tour guides and student executive team, managing tour guide scheduling and group tour requests, coordinating student training, and maintaining student worker policies and manuals. 10%
  • Responsible for other duties and projects as assigned and based on office needs.
This may include conducting one-time research and office improvement projects, or smaller scale ongoing office responsibilities.
Posting Range:
$50,000
  • $57,000 for Assistant Dean and $58,000
  • 65,000 for Senior Assistant Dean.
Additional Job Description:
Applies expert knowledge of the specialized area(s) and program administration. Applies knowledge of local school divisions, state and local government policies and procedures and state agency functions. Applies knowledge of research methods. May require considerable knowledge of technology use within an educational environment. Responsibilities include researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating education projects and providing services and support to local school divisions and state government.
