Strategic Enrollment | Undergraduate Admissions Job Overview The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University is a dynamic and exciting place to work. This position offers an opportunity to strategically impact the future of Ohio State through the recruitment, admission, and support of outstanding students. The Outreach and Recruitment team in Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for recruiting prospective students to The Ohio State University. The Assistant director reports to an Assistant/Senior Assistant Director of Outreach and Recruitment. The individual will be located in the Student Academic Services Building and will work closely alongside a team of full-time staff members of approximately 30 and a broader Undergraduate Admissions team of 55. Peak seasons are typically August through May given the cyclical nature of the work supported across Undergraduate Admissions. In office or hybrid work hours (3 days in office, 2 days work from home) can range from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, but will require early morning, evening, and weekend hours at various times during the year given the role's direct work with outreach and recruitment programs occurring in varying international time zones. Position Description As a member of the Undergraduate Admissions team the Assistant Director provides leadership to the transfer recruitment and admissions process in Undergraduate Admissions Columbus campus. Serves as the subject matter expert around transfer student recruitment and enrollment. Works with leadership in creating and implementing strategy; plans, executes, and contributes to building and evaluating transfer recruitment efforts for targeted populations; works collaboratively with members of undergraduate admissions to utilize data to understand populations and collaborate on implementation of the data to have direct impacts on outreach and recruitment efforts; participates in and provides oversight to the development, implementation, and evaluation of new outreach and recruitment efforts in collaboration with internal and external partners including email journeys, mailings, publications, and websites; oversees name licensing through external vendors for transfer students; works closely with transfer credit and other academic advising units to influence processes important to transfer student enrollment. Manages a recruitment territory (e.g., transfer); executes territory specific recruitment activities and events in collaboration with partner offices (Academic Success, Military and Veteran Services, Transfer Credit Center, Academic Affairs, academic advising units, ) using data, reports, and analysis tools/technology; develops and maintains positive relationships with community colleges and builds transfer advisory board program on an annual basis; collaborates and builds relationships with Columbus State Community College, transfer center staff and advisors, on in person and virtual programs to build outreach and recruitment efforts and engages in and promotes partnership and program development with internal and external constituents; travels to and coordinates office visits to in state and out of state community colleges, transfer college fairs, and military focused centers to represent Ohio State; possible travel up to 8-10 weeks per year; makes recruitment calls to prospective students in collaboration with partner offices; analyzes prospective student data. Learns and uses the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA, Ohio State's data analytics tool), CRM (Salesforce), Student Information System, and other technologies to perform timely and accurate entries into databases regarding student application information, call/email activity and other processes; performs data validation and manages electronic workflows. Provides leadership and supervision of one professional staff member and a military community liaison; employs a comprehensive performance management process including on-going training, setting expectations through performance planning, provides on-going coaching/mentoring and evaluates staff; motivates and encourages staff to help set priorities, provide excellent customer service, and support staff in their own career development. Additional Responsibilities The Assistant Director counsels and corresponds with students, families, university departments, or other stakeholders regarding Ohio State admission policies, procedures, and general information over the phone, via email, in person, and virtually. Conducts large and small-group presentations. Learns and maintains knowledge of the areas within the office and university to best direct questions from staff and guests. Researches and resolves problems. Reviews applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) and makes admissions recommendations through our holistic application review process that fluctuates through the year. Assists with on and off campus recruitment events and projects. Coordinate recruitment for special programs, as assigned. Participate as an active member of Undergraduate Admissions through membership on committees. Manages the personnel, operational and territory budgets of designated areas; serves in place of associate director at designated meetings and programs; completes special assignments and other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Minimum of 4 years of related work experience required; Demonstrated success with staff supervision; Experience with transfer admissions; Early morning, evening, and weekend hours required.
Desired:
4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. Professional experience at a college or university in recruitment at a large university; Demonstrated knowledge of data interpretation Knowledge of recruitment technology platforms (Salesforce, Peoplesoft).Demonstrated ability to collaborate and resolve conflicts Program planning and implementation; Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

S3 Senior Salary range for this position is $55,700 - $72,700. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
