  • Full-time The Designated Institutional Official (DIO) is responsible for the administration of the ACGME sponsoring institution and serves as the leader of the institution with oversight and management of all Residency Programs at all locations.
The DIO will interact with and liaison with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for accreditation. The DIO is responsible for ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, maintaining the quality of graduate medical education (GME), and supporting program leadership, faculty, and residents. The DIO must demonstrate a administrative, organization and leadership skills. A strong understanding of graduate medical education and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, administrators, and institutional leadership is preferred to ensure successful program oversight and development.
Responsibilities:
Provide institutional oversight for all Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs and ensure compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Institutional and Program Requirements. Serve as the official institutional representative to the ACGME and oversee accreditation processes, reporting, and documentation. Maintain compliance with accrediting bodies, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), state regulations, and internal institutional policies. Chair or lead the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and ensure appropriate governance and oversight of the GME structure. Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of institutional GME policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure adequate institutional resources, staffing, and administrative support are available for residency programs. Monitor program performance including resident outcomes, evaluations, scholarly activity, and quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with resident supervision requirements, duty hour standards, and institutional policies. Address institutional issues affecting residents, including well-being, learning environment, professionalism, and patient safety. Facilitate communication and collaboration between hospital administration, medical staff leadership, residency program leadership, and institutional stakeholders.
Additional Requirements:
Strong leadership, management, and strategic planning skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with physicians, administrators, and external partners. Ability to foster collaboration and maintain effective working relationships across departments and with external organizations. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Ability to analyze complex issues, resolve conflicts, and implement effective solutions. High level of discretion with the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive institutional and resident information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn software related to credentialing, quality reporting, incident reporting, and GME administration systems.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree is a minimum requirement with experience in Hospital Administration.
  • Doctorate (PhD), Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Advantage Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Medical Education, or a related field
  • Advantage Minimum of 10 years of experience in Hospital Administration or Graduate Medical Education leadership Demonstrated knowledge of ACGME accreditation requirements, GME administration, medical staff credentialing processes, and healthcare regulatory standards
