Job Description

Job Purpose:
Role Summary:
The Education Associate for Program Management for Accommodations coordinates and monitors statewide student assessment programs, with a focus on ensuring equitable access and appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities. The role oversees the review and development of accessible test forms and materials, ensures alignment with Universal Design principles, and evaluates special testing circumstances to maintain assessment validity and reliability. This position also develops guidance documents and provides training to district and school stakeholders on assessment policies and procedures, working collaboratively across teams with a high level of independence and discretion.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and monitor statewide assessment programs to ensure valid measurement of student learning and performance, with a focus on access for students with disabilities. Review and oversee field test items before, during, and after Content and Fairness meetings to ensure alignment with Universal Design principles; select accommodated forms for End of Course Examination Program (EOCEP) administrations. Organize and conduct reviews of customized and accommodated testing materials, including Large Print, Braille, Video Sign Language (VSL), Text to Speech (TTS), Oral and Signed Administration scripts, print forms, and answer documents. Develop, edit, and review manuals, guides, brochures, presentations, and other publications related to assessment policies, procedures, accountability, and accommodations. Provide training and technical guidance to SPED coordinators, School and District Test Coordinators (STCs/DTCs), and other stakeholders on assessment procedures and supports. Collaborate with district staff, SCDE content developers, test administrators, and contractors to evaluate Special Circumstance and Access Limited Requests while maintaining assessment reliability and validity. Coordinate across SCDE offices and teams to support accessible assessment practices and resolve complex testing issues. Manage multiple projects independently, meet timelines, and exercise a high level of discretion when handling secure test materials. Complete additional duties as assigned and participate in professional meetings, trainings, or conferences, including occasional overnight travel. A bachelor's degree and experience in education, management or business. Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field. A Master's degree and seven (7) years of work experience in special education or a Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years of experience in special education. Experience with large scale assessments, especially related to accessibility for students with disabilities. Strong organizational skills, including an ability to manage multiple priorities with competing demands for resources. Commitment to continual professional growth. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment while demonstrating sound judgement and making timely, effective decisions.
