  • Non Classified Position Overview Rhode Island College invites applications for two strategic and collaborative Vice Provosts for Academic Affairs .
Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs , these senior academic leaders play a central role in advancing the College's academic mission, strengthening academic quality, and supporting institutional effectiveness. The Vice Provost provides leadership for key academic initiatives, including institutional and programmatic accreditation, student learning assessment, and strategic academic planning. Working closely with deans, department chairs, and campus partners, the Vice Provost promotes a culture of continuous improvement, inclusive excellence, and data‑informed decision‑making. This role supports faculty onboarding and professional development, advances innovative and alternative teaching and learning modalities, and represents Academic Affairs on essential campus committees and institution‑wide initiatives. The Vice Provost also collaborates across divisions to support compliance with regulatory requirements, advance grants and special projects, and identify academic and operational efficiencies. Primary Purpose Reporting to the Provost & VPAA , the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs plans, leads and implements key academic initiatives across the college. The Vice Provost provides direction and oversight for academic units/program assessment, assessment of student learning, and strategic academic initiatives. The Vice Provost oversees the planning and implementation of academic effectiveness functions, including institutional and academic accreditations, programmatic and student learning assessment, and financial efficiencies. The Vice Provost will actively promote a culture that values continuous quality improvement and utilizes data in decision making. The Vice Provost works with deans, department chairs, and directors to advance academic priorities, represents Academic Affairs on pivotal campus committees, and serves as an essential point of contact for resolving concerns of faculty and staff in the division. The Vice Provost provides leadership and guidance to the academic schools and departments regarding strategic programming and projects. The Vice Provost collaborates on efforts to diversify curriculum and ensures that faculty are equipped with the skills necessary for inclusive excellence in pedagogy. Essential Duties Leads key academic initiatives and implements strategic plans for the Office of the Provost. Leads the onboarding, orientation, professional development initiatives of faculty and department chairs in coordination with the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, and the academic deans. Manages and tracks implementation of academic initiatives related to accreditation compliance. Supports the Office of the Provost with planning and organization of administrative, budgetary, and operational activities. Coordinates with Professional Studies and Continuing Education to develop, promote, and make recommendations for future planning of summer sessions and provide administrative oversight of contracts for summer faculty and department administration, and create a manual for standard operating procedures. Acts as point of contact between the provost and other internal and external stakeholders. Acts as liaison to key committees as assigned by the provost. Assists the Provost with oversight of Institutional Accreditation, Assessment, and State and Local Licensure to ensure the institution's alignment with all applicable standards and requirements. Collaborates with IRP , academic leadership, and other campus partners to identify and maintain metrics important to College's mission and goals. Facilitate academic reviews and annual reports
  • Assure feedback and follow up based on outcomes and recommendations. Lead academic affairs-related regional accreditation compliance reports ( NECHE ) and support Deans with programmatic-specific accreditation. Foster compliance with regulations and regulatory agencies such as NC
  • SARA and Rhode Island Office of the Post-Secondary Commissioner ( RIOPC ).
Serve as the Academic Affairs representative in institutional-wide grants; work in collaboration with the Office of Sponsored Projects to promote and support development of faculty-led grants, strategic initiatives to support and advance special projects. Work collaboratively with units across the campus to identify and implement budgetary efficiencies. Advance quality alternate teaching learning modalities such as online, hyflex, prior learning assessment. Identify efficiencies regarding course scheduling. Occasional Duties Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of academic programs and operations. Demonstrated leadership of assessment and related projects. Demonstrated experience with accreditation requirements and processes. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated ability using data to inform analysis, evaluation, and planning. Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with and support diverse groups/populations.
Required Qualifications Education:
Doctorate in appropriate discipline.
Experience :
Minimum of three years administrative leadership experience in higher education. Preferred Qualifications Central administrative experience. Does this position have Direct Reports?
