What You'll Do As the Coordinator of Student Life, you'll play a key role in transforming the student experience through dynamic programming, leadership development, and campus engagement initiatives. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the following Student Life areas: program/event planning, budget management, student engagement platform, student organizations, fraternity and sorority life, and student leadership development. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of the basic principles and theories of student development, educational administration, and public relations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the general public, to identify, develop, and implement programs and activities that will benefit the campus community, and to develop budgets and monitor expenditures. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and possess a great deal of flexibility. This position will be asked to flex time to work some nights and weekends for functions and events. This is a live-in position on the Bluffton campus with housing provided, requiring the Coordinator of Student Life to reside on campus and participate in an on-call rotation to support the student experience outside of regular business hours.
Job Duties Job Duty Student Programming and Event Management:
Plan, execute, and oversee campus-wide programs, events, and activities that promote student engagement, connection, and success on the Bluffton campus of USCB . Collaborate with registered student organizations, the Sand Shark Activities Board ( SSAB ), and campus partners to develop and implement major initiatives such as Welcome Week, Fright Week, De-Stress Week, and other large-scale events. Assist with fiscal oversight of the Student Life budget while ensuring programs align with departmental goals, the institutional mission, and best practices in student development and engagement. Conduct ongoing assessment through attendance tracking, surveys, focus groups, and data analysis to evaluate program effectiveness and guide improvements. Oversee department social media and branding in compliance with university policies. Additionally, advise and support SSAB in creating innovative programming that meets evolving student needs, fosters community, and enhances an inclusive campus environment. Job Duty Student-Employee Supervision:
Supervise student employees by hiring and managing a team of five to seven students who comprise the Sand Shark Activities Board ( SSAB ) on the Bluffton campus in accordance with university policies. Develop and implement structured onboarding and ongoing training to support student success, while providing mentorship to enhance leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Facilitate regular team meetings to plan events, monitor progress, and communicate expectations and updates. Evaluate student employee performance by providing timely, constructive feedback and addressing performance concerns as needed. Additionally, manage and complete payroll in compliance with university policies and procedures. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20
Job Duty Sand Shark Adventures Program Oversight:
Oversee the Sand Shark Adventures program by collaborating with the Coordinator of Campus Life on the Beaufort campus to plan, coordinate, and co-lead off-campus excursions that provide diverse recreational, cultural, and experiential opportunities for students. Manage all operational and logistical aspects of trips, including transportation, registration, waivers, budgeting, and payment processes, while securing group rates and discounts. Communicate clearly with participants by providing itineraries and expectations, and serve as the on-site trip leader responsible for student safety, engagement, and adherence to university policies. Evaluate program effectiveness through participation tracking and student feedback, and promote the program through social media, campus outreach, tabling, and partnerships with campus departments. Job Duty Campus Collaborations:
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with campus departments on the Bluffton campus to enhance the student experience and effectively leverage shared resources. Actively participate in departmental meetings, campus committees, task forces, and institutional initiatives to represent student life perspectives and contribute to university-wide student success efforts. Coordinate cross-campus programming and communication with the Beaufort campus to ensure consistency, share best practices, and create opportunities for inter-campus engagement. Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies in collaboration with student staff and campus partners to increase awareness and participation in programs and events. Assist with major university events, including open house, orientation, registration days, and accepted students' day.
