Staff Full Time Job Description Under the direction of the campus Assistant/Associate Dean of Students and the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, the Director of Academic Support directs academic support initiatives, academic assistance initiatives with faculty and course directors, and evaluates and reports on effectiveness of all academic support activities. Supervise, and when necessary, provide supplemental instructional support services, in a classroom environment to meet the needs of groups or individual students. Schedule and evaluate, and when necessary, conduct study skills courses, and test review sessions. Required Qualifications
  • minimum of a masters/doctorate/terminal degree;
  • ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively to a variety of constituents. Preferred Qualifications
  • experience advising pre-professional or professional students.
  • experience working with adult learners.

Job Duties Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large; Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students; Assist the Assistant/Associate Dean in completion of required institutional and program accreditation reports necessary for the advancement of the Program; Assist in strengthening the Program efforts to provide academic advising and promote the success of student doctors; Provide an innovative and holistic approach to providing students with the assistance, guidance and resources necessary to be successful; Provide personalized academic advising to at-risk students with development of an academic plan; Work individually with student doctors in order to formulate specialized study plans including academic assessment, time management skills and structure, note-taking skills and organization, incorporation of learning styles, and test-taking strategies; Continually measure progress of individual students through graduation; Develop familiarity with issues certain populations of students may face (non-traditional students, students of color, first-generation college students, transfer students, etc.) and incorporate this perspective into developmental advising approaches; Develop, utilize, and inform faculty of advising best practices that combine program-level knowledge and campus-wide perspective; Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of and referral to campus resources and opportunities; Implement intentional plans to engage students and faculty in mentoring and advising relationships; Facilitate connections that engage students in academically related student organizations; and Supervise a team of learning specialists and peer note takers; Perform other duties as necessary.
