The Director of Upward Bound Math and Science is directly responsible for the successful implementation and continuation of the Upward Bound Math and Science grant project. The director will manage and execute all project goals, objectives and activities. Supervise personnel, administer budgets and is responsible for the evaluation of all program activities and services. The position operates under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Office of College Access and Academic Enrichment Programs in the Division of Student Affairs at West Texas A&M University.Responsibilities:
Plan and direct the implementation of the Upward Bound Math and Science project goals, objectives and activities. Coordinate and direct the Upward Bound Math and Science grant projects. Secure facilities, resources and materials to satisfy project activities and goals. Identify, assess, and provide services to Upward Bound Math and Science participants as needed. Supervise, manage and train full time and part-time personnel. Administering, planning and managing the projects' budgets and administrative functions. Responsible for collecting data for the Upward Bound Math and Science projects performance reporting and documentation of communication with U.S. Department of Education on behalf of the University and the Office of College Access and Academic Enrichment Programs. Responsible for the Upward Bound Math and Science grant proposal research and writing, with the assistance of the Executive Director of the Office of College Access and Academic Enrichment Programs. Maintain positive relationships with university departments and external constituents. Serve on various university committees and work groups. Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the Office of College Access and Academic Enrichment Programs Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses. Other duties as assigned.Necessary Qualifications:
Master's in education or related field. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the areas of staff supervision; budget management; program development and evaluation; and reporting and compliance with federal regulations. Minimum of three (3) years of experience with federal TRIO programs, academic support programs, or similar project/programs for disadvantaged students; and professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting project participants. Obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and qualify and maintain qualification to operate a vehicle within Texas A&M University System guidelines. Strong communication, leadership, organizational, administrative, management skills. Experience with academic advising services, development of individualized education service plans for low-income and disadvantaged students.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with college access programs. Teaching experience. Five (5) years of experience in areas of staff supervision; program development and evaluation; reporting and compliance with federal regulations. Knowledge of higher education and secondary education curriculum and degree requirements. Budget experience and knowledge. Ability to manage and expand program partnerships. Experience with college, career, financial aid, and financial literacy. Experience with grant writing processes. Bi-lingual skills.Applicant Instructions:
