Job Description
About the Role We are seeking a passionate, high-energy tennis professional to lead our Junior Academy in Annandale, Virginia. This full-time leadership role is at the heart of our player development pathway — directing beginner and intermediate programming that forms the foundation of our Future Stars and Elite competitive programs. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a team environment, communicates well with kids and parents, and is committed to building fundamental skills, confidence, and love of the game in junior players. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and continuously improve junior programming for beginner and intermediate players (ages 5-14), aligned with the academy's developmental pathway leading into Future Stars and Elite programs. Teach group clinics, camps, and classes across all junior levels with age-appropriate, fundamentals-focused instruction. Deliver high-quality private and semi-private lessons to junior players of varying skill levels. Manage, mentor, and schedule assistant and part-time coaches within the Junior Academy program, ensuring consistent coaching standards and a positive team culture. Track player progress and communicate regularly with parents about development goals and next steps. Coordinate programming calendars, court scheduling, and event planning in collaboration with facility management. Represent the academy professionally at USTA events, tournaments, and community outreach opportunities. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all junior players. Required Qualifications USPTA or PTR certification (current and in good standing). Proven experience teaching beginner and intermediate junior players with a strong emphasis on fundamentals development. Experience managing or supervising other coaches in a tennis program setting. Demonstrated ability to teach effective private and group lessons. High energy, enthusiastic, and genuinely passionate about developing young players. Self-starter who takes initiative and can build and grow programming independently. Strong team player who collaborates well with staff, management, and parents. Availability and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by program scheduling. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with juniors, parents, and colleagues. Prior college playing background preferred but not required. What We Offer A full-time role with a competitive salary commensurate with experience. A clear career path with opportunities to grow into senior leadership within our academy. A collaborative, supportive team environment with passionate tennis professionals. Access to a well-established junior player pipeline and active parent community. Ongoing professional development and continuing education support.
