Advertising/Posting Title Student Empowerment Coordinator
Posting Summary The Student Empowerment Coordinator promotes student success and mattering and is responsible for student led initiatives, programs, and leadership development at Prism at UVM. This includes programs and mentorship that support student retention, thriving, and graduation via for student leadership, growth, and development around issues of gender and sexuality and the intersections of gender & sexuality with other aspects of identity. Working collaboratively with students and campus partners, this position will create programs that focus on themes of activism, positive social change, holistic wellness, and empowerment in and for the LGBTQIA+ community and all interested UVM community members. The Student Empowerment Coordinator also leads recruitment, supervision, and professional development efforts for our student team. Reports to the Associate Director of Prism at UVM.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor's degree in a related field and one to three years of experience required. Demonstrated knowledge and experience working to foster opportunity for all. Experience with program development, community building, and in social media communication and digital organizing across social media platforms is essential. Effective organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Desirable Qualifications Master's degree in relevant field preferred. Experience working in youth advocacy or with LGBTQIA+ college students and/or young adults. Experience as a student leader or supporting youth leadership development. Familiarity with the basic principles of budgeting, program assessment, & evaluation. Supervisory experience.
Anticipated Pay Range $51,000 to $54,000
Other Information Special Conditions Open to current UVM employees only , Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), Background Check required for this position
