This position will be responsible for managing departmental budgets, serve as the lead advisor on key annual events, and works under the general supervision of the Director of Student Life. This position is a student-fee funded position providing direct support to student funded programs, organizations and initiatives. This job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. Duty:
Program Administration, Development & Operations Tasks include: Oversee the initiatives and programs offered through the Student Leadership & Service Center (SLSC) including but not limited to core services such as Student ID's, Orca Bus Passes, and Food Pantry. Oversees the initiatives, programs, and leadership development opportunities offered through student clubs and communities Evaluate sponsored activities and department learning outcomes through data tracking, evaluation and assessment as part of continuous improvement and effectiveness. Hire, evaluate, and supervise student employees. Develop and oversee a student volunteer program Serve as the staff advisor to students in assigned areas and provide leadership, guidance and conflict resolution. Continue to work with the College Foundation and local organizations to identify sustainable food security resources for the CPTC Student Food Pantry. Take an active role in planning special events sponsored by the department such as but not limited to New Student Orientation, Week of Welcome Programming, and Commencement Coordinate all aspects of the annual Veteran's Day Ceremony and Phi Theta Kappa Induction Ceremony Develop and implement a campaign to re-establish a robust and engaged student club and community roster Serve as the staff lead for our partnership with Nourish Pierce County and coordinate weekly mobile food bank volunteer opportunities Co-lead student hiring campaigns alongside the Assistant Director of Student Life Work with student leaders to create monthly gallery wall in the SLSC Exercise independent judgement and decision making ability within broad spectrum of responsibilities, funded programs and student personnel.Duty:
Training & Leadership Tasks include: Serve as a staff representative to co-curricular programs associated with the department and provide leadership, program development consultation and budget assistance. Advise the Beta Omicron Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Coordinate, develop, implement and manage student clubs and communities an annual orientation, regular meetings, budget requests and event planning details. Serve as the staff lead for quarterly club engagement fairs. Coordinate, develop, implement and manage training and regular support for student club advisors Create and deliver leadership training workshops and programs to support the growth and development of CPTC students. Supervise and attend student-sponsored events, conferences and retreats at night/weekend as needed.Duty:
Budget Management, Professional Development and Other Duties Tasks include: Develop and oversee Services and Activities (S&A) Fee budgets associated with areas of responsibility. Provide budgetary planning, organization and leadership to student funded programs in collaboration with department staff. Monitor sponsored activities to ensure timeliness, deadlines, and budgets are maintained. Interpret college policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, ensuring compliance. Actively participate in educational and professional activities and conferences to network, build knowledge and expand resources as the budget allows Participate in regional, state and national professional organizations pertinent to the field as the budget allows. Represent the department at division, college meetings and events at the Director's request Serve on at least one College committee, to be determined Complete and stay current with all required CPTC trainings Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in education, human development, psychology, communications, sociology or related field. Minimum of two years of working professionally in an education setting providing direct service to students Experience working in a collaborative team environment Minimum two years experience supervising student employees The ability to communicate effectively one-on-one and with both large and small groups. Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent skills using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. The ability to contribute to the college's commitment to diversity by fostering a climate multicultural understanding and appreciation Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in social sciences, education, human development, psychology, sociology, communications or related field. Three or more years working professionally in an education setting providing direct service to students Experience working in a Student Life (or similar office) at a higher education institution.
