About this Opportunity Reporting to the Director for LiveWell, the Events Specialist is responsible for advancing the University of Washington's commitment to student wellbeing through innovative outreach and engagement strategies. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive portfolio of campus-wide events and educational initiatives that promote student health and wellbeing. The Events Specialist collaborates closely with campus partners, student leaders, and community organizations to create inclusive, evidence-informed programming that meets the evolving needs of UW students.
Key Responsibilities Health Promotion:
Events and Programs (70%) Manage the creation, planning, coordination, and execution of LiveWell health promotion events and programs, including those co-sponsored with campus and community partners, that effectively address key health issues impacting UW students. Collaborate with the LiveWell Director, Assistant Director, and other LiveWell staff to lead a comprehensive, strategic events portfolio aligned with student health priorities. Ensure programs are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the needs of UW's diverse student population. Utilize data-informed approaches, including analysis of the American College Health Association (ACHA) survey and other campus assessments, to identify emerging student health needs and inform program development. Establish and maintain systems for tracking program outcomes, assessing impact, and supporting continuous quality improvement. Outreach & Collaboration (15%) Partner with the LiveWell Marketing & Communications to develop and implement strategic outreach and promotional campaigns to increase student engagement and participation. Partner with the LiveWell Peer Health Education program to have peer leadership representation, student engagement, and ensure student employees are equipped to help execute events and programs. Represent LiveWell at campus events, outreach opportunities, and collaborative initiatives to elevate awareness of LiveWell and create working relationships across campus. LiveWell Team Contributions (15%) Actively contribute as a member of the LiveWell team through participation in staff meetings, strategic planning, and cross-functional initiatives. Collaborate on grant writing, funding proposals, and program development efforts that advance LiveWell's mission. Serve as a LiveWell representative on university committees, panels, and workgroups. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director in support of departmental and divisional goals. Minimum Qualifications Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT
be forwarded to the Hiring Department. Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Business, Education, or a related field. Minimum of two (2) years of experience planning, coordinating, and executing events and programs in the topic areas of health promotion, prevention and/or wellness. Additional Qualifications Experience working in a higher education setting, particularly in student affairs or campus health promotion. Experience with supervising student employees Familiarity with evidence-based health promotion strategies and behavior change models. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and experience working with diverse populations. About the Team:
As the university's primary health promotion unit, LiveWell addresses a broad range of critical student health issues, including sexual assault prevention and education, alcohol and other drug use, mental health and suicide intervention, and holistic wellness. This role expands the reach and visibility of LiveWell's services by developing impactful programming and strategic outreach efforts that engage a diverse student population.
