JOB SUMMARY
An instructional coach's chief professional responsibility is to bring evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with teachers and other school leaders.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1.
Exhibits fluency in the KUSD Student-Centered Coaching Model. 2. Partners with teachers in student-centered coaching cycles to design learning that is based on specific goals for student learning. 3. Uses data and student work to analyze progress and collaborate with teachers to make informed decisions about instruction that is differentiated and needs-based. 4. Co-plans with teachers to design, implement, and assess learning experiences that utilize research-based, culturally relevant instructional practices, technology and digital information resources. 5. Identifies appropriate learning material resources and tools available within the school and district, that helps teachers build instructional capacity. 6. Attends Instructional Coach Meetings as scheduled for the purpose of professional growth and collaboration. 7. Identifies the strengths, needs, and backgrounds of teachers to guide student-centered coaching cycles 8. Collaborates with building leadership to plan and monitor the alignment of coaching and professional learning with site-based goal(s). 9. Creates an environment of trust and respect that promotes teacher engagement in a student-centered coaching model, builds a collaborative learning environment, and fosters a culture of continuous professional growth in the building. 10. Uses the "Seven Norms of Collaborative Work" to establish a safe and reflective learning environment. 11. Participates in site, district, and other professional learning communities. 12. Supports analysis and interpretation of data to help increase student achievement. 13. Facilitates collaborative reflection about differentiated instructional practices and student achievement. 14. Keeps current with national and district standards and frameworks regarding content knowledge, information and technology literacies. 15. Submits student-centered coaching data in a timely manner to evaluate personal and program growth. 16. Demonstrates professionalism by adhering to the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality. 17. Evaluates and reflects on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing instructional practices and emerging instructional practices and resources in support of student learning. 18. Assists in developing the site's comprehensive needs assessment by analyzing data and developing strategies that increase student achievement. Collects and maintains student data requested by supervisor Completes other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1.
Knowledge of the promises and challenges of urban education. 2. Effective and efficient time and task management skills including planning, managing and organizing. 3. Leadership skills including appropriate organization, creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness. 4. Skilled at facilitation, consensus-building and conflict resolution. 5. Understanding of state academic standards and District curriculum. 6. Knowledge of, and experience with Multiple Leveled Systems of Support (MLSS) principles including collection and analysis of data to inform instruction. 7. Demonstrates knowledge of academic, social, emotional and behavioral issues of students. 8. Understanding of effective professional learning skills. 9. Knowledge of data analysis and reporting skills. 10. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. 11. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 12. Ability to incorporate instructional technology in daily instructionPHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasionally required to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.; consistently and repetitively operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine and/or computer printer; regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information with administration, staff, and the public.
