Job Description
Job Summary Grow Ohio Valley's educational programming with its connection to youth and its ability to create awareness, is at the heart of GrowOV's mission and it is a vital component of the overall success of the organization. Farm to School is a multifaceted program that aims to make fresh produce more accessible and appealing to Ohio Valley youth. The program includes three main objectives. To deliver interactive, educational programming centered around health food literacy To provide up to one thousand pounds of fresh local produce grown and harvested at one of GrowOV's or partner farm locations To host and coordinate guided and educational farmer visits to elementary and middle school youth in the Ohio county school system The Farm to School Program Manager will spend the majority of their time on this program. This work involves creating and implementing curriculum for afterschool and/or classroom programs, hosting taste testing field days, farmer meet and greets, workplace simulation classes where youth learn farming skills, and finally, coordinating produce needs with the Urban Farm Manager and Vendor Coordinator that will be served at Ohio County Schools. Responsibilities 30-35% | Program Design & Strategic Planning Lead full design and launch of a comprehensive Farm to School program across five core areas: Nutrition education, Farmer led education, Local food procurement. Culinary experiences, Community engagement Develop multi-year implementation plan aligned with USDA grant goals and reporting requirements, Convene and lead a Farm to School advisory committee (schools, farmers, partners) Build detailed curriculum frameworks for all program components 20-25% | Program Implementation & Operations Execute all programming activities including: Monthly cooking classes (18 annually), Farmer Meet & Greets (2+ per year), School-based and afterschool workshops Ensure programming reaches 1,000+ students annually Coordinate logistics: Supplies and equipment procurement, Scheduling with schools and farms Supervise AmeriCorps member 10-15% | Local Food Procurement & Supply Chain Coordination Work with schools to: Develop procurement plans for local foods, Navigate school purchasing systems and regulations Coordinate with farm team to: Align production planning with school demand, Ensure consistent supply of local produce Manage goal of distributing ~1,000 lbs of local produce to schools 10-15% | Partnership Development & Stakeholder Management Build and maintain partnerships with: Local farmers (minimum 5+), School systems (CNP operators), Universities and educators, Community organizations Facilitate collaboration between: Farm team, School nutrition directors, Community partners Represent program at regional/national trainings and networking events, Community health 5-10% | Community Engagement | Grant & Financial Management | Team Management Events, outreach, family participation Budget tracking, compliance, coordination with finance Supervising AmeriCorps Internal coordination meetings Requirements Education Bachelor's degree in one of the following (or equivalent experience): Public Health, Education, Agriculture / Food Systems, Nonprofit Management, Nutrition or Dietetics Professional Experience (STRONGLY
RECOMMENDED
) 3-5+ years in: Program management (nonprofit, education, or food systems) Direct experience in at least one: Farm to School / Farm to Table programs, School partnerships or youth programming, Food access / nutrition initiatives Experience with: Multi-partner collaborations, Community engagement programs, Event or program coordination Technical & Grant-Specific Experience Grant management experience (HIGHLY preferred): Federal or state grants (USDA ideal), Reporting and compliance Data collection & evaluation: Surveys, metrics tracking, reporting Budget oversight: Tracking expenses and aligning with grant budgets

Paid Time:
You are eligible to accrue up to 10 days of paid time off. This time is prorated based upon your start date of employment. In your third year of employment, this time increases to 15 days.

In accordance with the organization's holiday and paid time off policy, employees are eligible for holiday pay.
