GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This Education Program Consultant position is responsible for the review and revision of the state standards for the content areas of Science and Career & Technical Education (CTE). This position also works with the Assessment Team to review items for the statewide assessment system with the goal of ensuring federally-approved assessments that are instructionally supportive and provide relevant, reliable, valid, and timely data. Duties include reviewing and updating documents, providing content expertise in the areas of Science and CTE education, and providing technical support and professional development opportunities to schools and districts. The successful candidate will create and manage timelines, schedule and facilitate statewide committee meetings, and regularly maintain documents and communication. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills. Working for the State of Wyoming offers more than a paycheck.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level. Develops and implements state-level activities for educational programs. Monitors programs for compliance with regulations and provide feedback to districts or sub-grantees. Identifies potential problems and devises solutions. Disseminates professional trends by presenting information at meetings, workshops, and/or conferences. Develops strategic planning for cross-agency collaboration and agreements to meet agency objectives and to implement new programs. Plans and conducts workshops and trainings on state and/or federal programs. Authority to ensure compliance. Develops program budget, approve grants and funding, and monitor appropriateness of expenses to meet project goals. Determines goals in professional development to ensure all job functions can be met. Oversees completion of state and federal reporting requirements. Other duties as assigned.
PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to individuals with a degree in education and with classroom teaching experience in Science.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge in process and project management. Knowledge in strategic planning and performance measures. Knowledge in policy implications from program evaluation and research findings. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to present in front of both large and small groups. Knowledge of State and Federal laws, especially regarding educational accountability. Knowledge of data quality control measures. Knowledge of fiscal planning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Education)
Experience:
1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Specialist.
OR Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Specialist.

Exempt This position offers full-time telework, with occasional required in-office attendance. Successful applicants will be required to participate in meetings and events at the Cheyenne Office on a monthly basis. Successful applicants must reside in Wyoming or maintain a primary residence within a 100-mile radius of Cheyenne for the duration of their employment with the Wyoming Department of Education. Applicants may be asked to provide transcripts of any relevant coursework at the time of the interview or hire. Successful candidates must pass a fingerprinting, background, and reference check.
