General Information:

Principal or Appropriate Supervisor Job Goal:
To implement an effective educational program for the designated grade level and subject area(s) using the designated course of study, appropriate materials and resources, and best instructional practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a B.S. Degree in the area of instructional responsibility required Alabama State Department of Education Teaching Certification in the area of instructional responsibility required Proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide a variety of people and groups. Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instructions to facilitate student learning, to manage data and to produce submit required reports, correspondence and/or financial information. Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates supports for the school system and its vision, mission, goals and priorities. Demonstrates competent knowledge of the structure of the academic discipline related to assigned subject-matter content areas. Demonstrates competent knowledge of the Alabama course of study and locally developed curriculum guides related to the teaching assignment. Anchors content knowledge in learning experience that are meaningful and engaging. Defines clear goals and objectives for unit and daily lesson plans. Provides accommodations , modifications, and/or adaptation to the curriculum required. Uses students' prior knowledge and experiences to introduce new subject-area content and present instructional experiences that are designed to be motivating and engaging for those students. Implements developmentally appropriate instructional strategies. Utilizes ongoing formative assessment to monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly. Collaborates with other teachers to interpret and use student data for instructional planning and program evaluation. Administers all school, District and state-required assessments in accordance with required procedures. Facilitates students' individual and collaborative use of technology to support learning. Positively models the appropriate and responsible use of technology. Creates a classroom environment that values and responds to cultural, ethnic, gender, linguistic and socio-economic differences and recognizes the impact of these differences on individual learner's needs, preferences and styles. Expects and responds to a broad range of student academic and behavioral needs in the classroom and provides accommodations to individual students as required. Involves parents and/or families as active partners in planning and supporting student learning. Actively participates in collaborative professional learning communities to increase student achievement and grow professional expertise. Actively engages in ongoing, continuous professional learning. Uses and maintains confidential information in accordance with state and federal law and local Board's policy. Practices safe, responsible, legal and ethical use of technology following the Midfield City Schools Acceptable Use Agreement. Maintain and submits required reports, records and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system. Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives as well as state, federal, and local laws. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

The performance of the job will be evaluated following the provision of the Board policy on the evaluation of personnel.
