POSITION TITLE
Media Center SpecialistQUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution
- Valid certification in library science/media
- Such alternatives or additional qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO
PrincipalSUPERVISES
Students and assigned personnel Performance Responsibilities Collaborates with teachers to implement instruction.- Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences based on the Alabama State Curriculum and the 21 st Century Learning Standards in a schedule class/flex time.
- Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning environment.
- Exhibits positive human relation skills.
- Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress.
- Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
- Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.
- Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
- Places all orders, equipment, supplies, materials, and technology devices.
- Catalogs new resources, equipment, and materials.
- Maintains, prepares, and submits media center reports each semester that detail the use of materials and collection development.
- Conducts yearly inventory, resources, equipment, technology devices and materials.
- Maintains collections that support Alabama School Media/Library for the 21 st Century Learner.
- Engages in fundraising activities to support the media center.
- Supervises media aide, student helpers, and parent volunteers.
- Assists students and staff with Technology Integration/Instruction.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Principal or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
EVALUATION:
Nine-month position in accordance with Board approved salary schedule. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Tarrant City Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified personnel. This is an exempt position.Revised:
