Compass specializes in the education of students with learning differences. Our school is truly a unique and rewarding place for teachers to work with neurodivergent students. Compass is a small school with a high level of cohesion and collaboration among its faculty. Parents are highly involved and supportive. The successful candidate will be able to teach high school History (e.g. World History, U.S. History, Government/Economics, and Human Geography or other electives) and to differentiate instruction for a range of learners. We are looking for a teacher who is creative and flexible, who uses multisensory teaching techniques, and who designs structured lessons. A California teaching credential or progress towards one is preferred, as well as subject matter competency in History. Experience teaching neurodivergent students is desired as is an understanding of post-secondary placement for such students. The successful candidate will also be comfortable collaborating with fellow teachers and administrators and will be someone who is open to feedback and growth. The ideal candidate should also be someone who is enthusiastic about learning about and from our students and participating in the community of the school and its initiatives. Compass High School is a nonprofit private school for students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. The mission of Compass High School is to provide a supportive, individualized program to help neurodivergent students develop their full academic potential. We focus on learning strategies, social competence, and self-advocacy to give students the knowledge and self-confidence they need to succeed. Compass High School is located in Belmont, CA.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in history, education, etc. Significant experience in teaching history or related fields. Strong knowledge of curriculum design and instructional practices.
