Job Description

Clairbourn School, a Junior PreK through eighth grade independent school nestled at the confluence of Pasadena, San Marino, and San Gabriel, is actively seeking a full-time 2nd Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Clairbourn is known for its supportive school community and commitment to developing the whole child. Clairbourn seeks individuals who support our tradition of strong academics in a context of ethical values, including honesty, respect, responsibility, spirituality, and citizenship. Our mission is Creating Scholars and Leaders with Heart . Clairbourn School is seeking an individual who enjoys working with elementary students and is committed to helping them develop academic skills, confidence, teamwork, and a growth mindset. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who builds strong relationships with students, works well with colleagues, and actively supports the mission and daily life of the school. They are dependable, energetic, flexible, and willing to contribute to the school community. Contract to begin August 1, 2026. Salary is competitive and is commensurate with education, skills, and experience, with a generous benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, and retirement benefits. Salary range is between $70,000 and $95,000, based on our salary scale.
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree Teaching credential and/or Master's degree preferred Teaching experience of 3 or more years preferred Employment Requirements Test for tuberculosis not more than one year prior to or seven days after employment Documentation of a Department of Justice criminal record clearance or exemption as required by law
Successful Candidates Will Demonstrate:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills High energy level, creativity, and flexibility Positive attitude Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty to plan and implement curriculum Ability to teach all content areas at the assigned grade level: language arts, math, social studies, and science Ability to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, independence, and ethics in students Experience with integrating technology in the classroom, including interactive whiteboards and iPads Ability to successfully develop and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, and school families Physical ability to perform the duties of the job Willingness to support the philosophy of the school
