POSITION SUMMARY
Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School is hiring for a Religious Studies teacher who will also assume the responsibilities of Service Learning Coordinator for the 2026-2027 school year. The position will be teaching 1-2 sections in the Religion department. As Service Learning Coordinator, this position sits within the Student Life Team and works closely with the Religion Department & Campus Ministry department, which is the driving force of faith and spirituality for the CRSJ community. Our programs enliven and animate the Catholic and Jesuit identity of our school for our students, our faculty and staff, our parents and families. The department seeks to nurture and develop the spiritual lives of our students, supporting and enriching them to live lives filled with faith, hope and love in service to others. Our community reflects Jesus' care and concern for all people regardless of color, creed, or country. We live in solidarity with the poor and with creation, we advocate for those suffering from injustices, and we take joy in being "people for others." As a school, which functions in an interreligious context, we foster unity by integrating prayer experiences from different religious traditions. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Instructional Practice & Student Development Plan for instruction of assigned courses in the content area by developing annual, unit, and lesson plans aligned with the Cristo Rey Network's standards-based curriculum and the individual needs of their students. Set high expectations for student development and ensure all students develop grade-level proficiency to prepare for success in college. Design a comprehensive program to support academic, social, emotional, spiritual, physical, moral, and character development of every student. Promote student development of the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. Identify and remediate subject matter in which students require additional support. Identify and provide extension activities for students who are ready to progress. Develop interim benchmarks and assessments linked to course standards and work with other faculty and administrators to analyze results and refocus instruction based on student needs. Differentiate instruction to allow students with differing learning styles to access course content. Utilize classroom technology to engage students' learning.
Leadership and Collaboration:
All teachers are expected to participate in the following (in addition to their classroom assignments): Serve as a moderator of student clubs and activities or a coach of athletic teams as needed. Serve as a chaperone/leader of field trips, immersion experiences, retreats, Christian Service opportunities, and other activities. Serve as a morning, break, lunch, or afterschool prefect approximately 2 times per week. Understand and appreciate the developmental and educational benefits of the school's Corporate Work Study Program. Develop relationships with and meet the individual needs of each student consistent with the school's belief in cura personalis , or "care for the whole individual." Makes referrals to school leaders and counseling teams to identify and support students who are struggling behaviorally or emotionally. Participate in departmental and grade-level meetings to coordinate curriculum across the content area and better understand student needs. Communicate regularly with parents/families to share academic progress and develop a supportive home-school relationship. Host office hours after school, supporting struggling learners or offering learning extensions for students.
Service Learning Coordination:
Maintain relationships with local non-profit and service oriented organizations Plan, coordinate, and communicate all the service opportunities to students and teachers Collaborate with students and teachers in the Religion Department to implement the school's scaffolded four-year service program Monitor student service hours through the online database (MobileServe) and communicate updates to teachers, students, and parents/families Facilitate CRSJ "Striving For Justice" Service Fair in the fall and the Service Showcase in the spring Help the Coordinator of Student Activities with donation drives for Thanksgiving & Lenten Season in partnership with local nonprofit agencies Collaborate with the Student Life Team to offer group service opportunities when requested (ex: student athlete service days). Organization-wide Learning & Development Understand your own teaching practice as developmental. Tap into available resources from colleagues and external sources to continually reflect on and improve your teaching. Participate in the school's professional learning community and instructional coaching, collaborating with colleagues to analyze student work and teaching practice. Help to create a reflective learning organization for both students and adults. Serve as a catalyst for improvement in your own classroom and school-wide.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in the school's Adult Faith Formation program, committing to living and supporting the Catholic, Jesuit mission of the school through continuous spiritual and personal growth and by serving as a leader of faith, service, and justice for our students. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or the Supervisor.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree with relevant major, Master's degree, Teaching Credential, or professional experience. (Teachers without a Credential are required to begin a program within a year of starting employment and to complete the Credential within five years.) SALARY AND COMPENSATION
Range between $74,587 - $143,819 on a salary schedule based on education and years of experience. Full time employees are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, and retirement. Employees' premiums are covered for medical, dental and vision at 100% and dependents at 50% if elected. This position is eligible for enrollment in the group voluntary retirement plan - 403b. Contract is 10 months.
