The Teacher/Academic Advisor at Kairos Luminary Academy High School is a hybrid educator role that blends flex-based classroom instruction with personalized academic advising. This is not a traditional classroom-only teaching position. The Teacher/Advisor position serves as both content teacher/specialist and primary mentor, guiding scholars academically, organizationally, and relationally within a college/flex-based learning model. Scholars attend in-person classes two to three days per week and complete independent coursework on remaining days. The Teacher/Advisor supports academic progress, monitors Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs), partners closely with families, and ensures course completion and compliance. In addition to teaching 3-4 in-person classes twice a week, this role includes advising a caseload of up to 25 scholars in grades 9-12 and supporting students as they take ownership of their learning. Please reach out to James Buescher at jbuescher@kairospublicschools.org if you have any questions about the position or school.
