Bachelor's degree in education or other discipline with endorsement meeting Colorado licensure requirements, or the ability to obtain license requirements.

Job Summary:
This is an instructional position that facilitates students in learning subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as responsible and productive citizens and lifelong learners. The teacher guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and-in harmony with the goals-establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and has the ability to communicate these objectives to students. The work plan employs a variety of instructional techniques utilizing appropriate technology, consistent with limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Displays personal qualities which are appropriate for a professional teacher such as: maintains professional ethics and confidentiality; is open to learning from others and accepts constructive criticism; is a positive role model for students (e.g. is consistent, fair, dependable, responsible, and respectful). Effective Teachers in the state of Colorado have the knowledge, skills, and commitments needed to provide excellent and equitable learning opportunities and growth for all students. They strive to support growth and development, close achievement gaps and to prepare diverse student populations for postsecondary and workforce success. Effective Teachers facilitate mastery of content and skill development, and employ and adjust evidence-based strategies and approaches for students who are not achieving mastery and students who need acceleration. They also develop in students the skills, interests and abilities necessary to be lifelong learners, as well as for democratic and civic participation. Effective Teachers communicate high expectations to students and their families and utilize diverse strategies to engage them in a mutually supportive teaching and learning environment. Because effective Teachers understand that the work of ensuring meaningful learning opportunities for all students cannot happen in isolation, they engage in collaboration, continuous reflection, on-going learning and leadership within the profession.
Essential Job Functions:
Implements by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional content standards and benchmarks (goals and objectives) Provides effective instructional strategies and activities for all students in the classroom Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal Encourages students to set and maintain standards of appropriate classroom behavior Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation Makes provision for availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with supervisor evaluates their job performance Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required Make every student, parent, and visitor feel noticed, welcomed, and valued Other duties, as assigned Wray School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
