Qualifications:

Hold or be eligible for dual license and certification as Secondary Social Studies Teacher in accordance with 14?Del.

C.?§1544 and Physical Education Teacher in accordance with 14?Del.

C.?§1564. Be committed to Sussex County Vocational Technical School District's mission, vision, and values. Previous experience as a high school teacher preferred.

Performance Responsibilities:

Teach both Physical Education courses and courses in Social Studies in a split-time position. Provide high quality standards-based and student-centered instruction to high school students. Work cooperatively with all staff and students. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district. Employ a variety of instructional techniques including the use of instructional media to ensure student engagement, motivation, and success. Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policies and administrative regulations. Maintain organized classroom environment and practice sound interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff, students, and families. Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. Participate as a member in the Professional Learning Community including Academy meetings and activities. Develop and implement appropriate plans for students that include appropriate supports and accommodations. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Seek to integrate lessons with other areas as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:

Ten (10) month teacher position. (188 days/year)

Salary and Benefits:

Pension and benefit eligible position.

Salary commensurate with verified qualifications and experience according to state and local salary schedules.
