This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop engaging curriculum, foster critical thinking, and cultivate a love for history, geography, civics, and cultural studies. The ideal candidate will bring innovative instructional strategies, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to student success. You will play a vital role in shaping young minds by integrating technology, research skills, and creative approaches into your lessons to make social studies relevant and compelling. Responsibilities Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating instructional design principles and learning technology tools. Develop engaging curricula that integrate elements of journalism, creative writing, and linguistics to enhance students' communication skills and literacy education. Utilize AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, and proofreading techniques to teach students effective writing and research methods. Foster an inclusive classroom environment through effective classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques. Mentor students in developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and civic awareness through project-based learning and discussions on historical events and social issues. Incorporate standardized testing preparation and assessment strategies to monitor student progress and inform instruction. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, educational administration initiatives, and library services to support student learning outcomes. Engage in ongoing professional development related to higher education teaching methods, Montessori approaches (if applicable), special education needs, or other relevant pedagogies. Experience Prior classroom experience teaching middle school social studies or related subjects with demonstrated success in engaging diverse student populations. Strong background in curriculum development, instructional design, and lesson planning tailored for grades 6 through 8. Experience working with learning technology platforms, digital resources, and research tools to enhance instruction. Proven ability in classroom management, behavior management strategies, and fostering a positive learning environment. Knowledge of literacy education techniques, standardized testing procedures, and educational best practices for middle school learners. Experience mentoring students or providing academic advising within private or independent school settings is preferred.
