Job Description

Job Title:
High School History Teacher Position Overview:
Pinecrest Academy is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable High School History Teacher. The ideal candidate is passionate about history, civic engagement, and critical thinking, with the ability to inspire students to explore the past and understand its relevance to the present. This teacher will deliver standards-aligned instruction that promotes analytical thinking, discussion, and historical inquiry.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver high school history instruction aligned to Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards for Social Studies Develop lessons that encourage critical thinking, primary source analysis, and historical interpretation Use assessment data to guide instruction and differentiate for diverse learners Create a structured and positive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and accountability Integrate technology, project-based learning, and collaborative strategies to enhance understanding Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress Collaborate with colleagues during Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to improve instructional practices Maintain accurate records and comply with all school, district, and state requirements Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and extracurricular activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in History, Social Studies, Education, or a related field Valid Florida Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) in Social Science (Grades 6-12) Knowledge of Florida standards and state assessment expectations Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching high school history, including AP or honors courses ESOL endorsement or Reading Endorsement Experience incorporating project-based learning, debates, or historical simulations
