Other Co Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Kapa?akea Principal Investigators, the SLS 302 Instructor will provide the following: Teach SLS 302 Second Language Learning to Native Hawaiian students in the NHSS sheltered summer institute program. Incorporate traditional Hawaiian knowledge and texts into the curriculum. Other related tasks and/or duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Linguistics, Second Language Studies, Hawaiian Studies, Language, Political Science, Education, Ethnic Studies, or closely related field Teaching experience in college level courses Experience in the field of Native Hawaiian or indigenous education Demonstrated ability to present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing and verbally
Desired Qualifications:
PhD in Linguistics, Second Language Studies, Education or closely related field Evidence of ability to teach effectively Ability to teach Second Language Studies while teaching toward the learning outcomes of SLS 302 at UH Manoa Familiarity with a range of perspectives and experiences of Native Hawaiian students in the social sciences Familiarity with institutional barriers for Native Hawaiian students in higher education and best practices for Native Hawaiian student success To apply: Click on the "Apply" button on the top right corner of the screen to complete an application and attach required documents.
