Job Description

Are you a dedicated educator who believes that a student's zip code shouldn't determine their destiny? We are seeking a high-energy, adaptable, and collaborative K-5 elementary teacher to join our high achieving team. As a high-performing Title 1 school, we pride ourselves on closing the achievement gap through rigorous instruction, deep relational trust, and a "whatever it takes" approach to student success. Core Responsibilities In this role, you will be an architect of learning who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
Small Group Mastery:
Design and lead intensive, daily small group interventions in Literacy. You should be comfortable using real-time data to pivot instruction and meet students exactly where they are.
Collaborative Planning:
Work closely with grade-level peers, instructional coaches, and interventionists. We believe "our" students are better than "my" students—expect frequent co-planning and peer observations.
Data-Informed Instruction:
Use formative and summative assessments to track growth. You'll participate in weekly data meetings to refine your approach and ensure no student falls through the cracks.
Flexible Classroom Management:
Foster a joyful, structured, and inclusive classroom culture. You must be able to adapt your management style to support the social-emotional needs of a diverse student population.
Family Partnership:
Proactively communicate with families to build strong home-school connections, celebrating wins and collaborating on challenges. The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree. If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in. Upon hire you will need to have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit.
