The ideal candidate will inspire students to engage with historical events, cultural studies, and social issues, fostering critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world around them. This full-time position offers an opportunity to create a positive learning environment and contribute to the academic and personal growth of our students. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and the school curriculum. Teach a variety of social studies subjects, including history, geography, economics, and civics, to students in grades 9-12. Foster a classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives. Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing timely feedback to support their learning. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning opportunities and participate in professional development activities. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and any concerns. Organize and facilitate extracurricular activities related to social studies, such as debates, history fairs, and field trips. Stay informed about current events and integrate relevant topics into the curriculum to promote real-world connections. Uphold school policies and contribute to a positive school culture that emphasizes respect, responsibility, and academic excellence. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification or license in the state of Idaho for Social Studies. Strong knowledge of social studies content and effective teaching strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that meets the needs of diverse learners. Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational best practices. Experience in teaching high school students is preferred but not required. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon Board approval, and successful completion of a federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
