The position includes teaching five sections of Social Studies courses and working directly with the Social Studies Department as part of a Professional Learning Community (PLC). Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and to an education that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and the practical application of economic and psychological principles. The educator supports Cathedral's mission and vision with a firm foundation in Holy Cross values.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must maintain a strong commitment to educational excellence by transforming the hearts and minds of all our students. As an educator you serve as the subject-matter expert, who maintains high academic standards and professional conduct while providing instruction that advances measurable student achievements. This position is a full-time, 10-month salaried exempt position, not subject to overtime pay. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00am - 3:45 p.m., with office hours beginning at 8:00 a.m. From time to time, the role may require a variable schedule to meet the needs of the position and to support school activities. Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, Psychology, or a related field (Master's preferred) Valid Indiana Teaching License or ability to obtain a license Minimum of 1-3 years of teaching experience Familiarity with Indiana Academic Standards for Social Studies and College Board AP psychology framework Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education Proficiency with instructional technology and curriculum development for Economics and Psychology Familiarity with Mac laptops/desktops, PowerSchool, Google tools (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Gmail, Chrome) is preferred or a willingness to learn
Instruction and Curriculum Delivery:
Teach five sections of Social Studies courses, including Economics and Psychology, with AP Psychology assigned based on qualifications Plan and deliver instruction aligned with departmental scope, sequence, and college-preparatory academic standards Work directly with the Social Studies Department as part of Social Studies PLC Ensure curriculum alignment and instructional consistency Prepare lesson materials, instructional resources, and classroom activities that promote mastery of economic and psychological concepts Guide students in developing analytical reasoning, research skills, and the ability to interpret data in Economics and Psychology Maintain structured classroom management practices that support focused learning Exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills
Assessment and Reporting:
Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and evaluations Communicate student progress, concerns, and achievements to students, parents, and school leadership in a timely and professional manner Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and cross-disciplinary projects Design assessments that measure comprehension of course content, critical thinking, and applied skills Maintain accurate records of attendance, assignments, grades, and academic progress in accordance with school policies
Professional Engagement:
Attend faculty meetings, professional development programs, and school-wide initiatives Balance lesson planning, grading, and digital tools effectively Remain current with best practices in education, instructional practices, and developments in Economics and Psychology instruction Approachable, patient, and ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs Participate in school Masses, retreats, and community service activities as appropriate Uphold professional standards of conduct and behavior that reflects and reinforces Cathedral mission, vision, and values
