Job Description

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and engaging 7th Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of middle school science and social studies content and a passion for helping students explore the world around them, both scientifically and historically. This role focuses on building critical thinking, inquiry, and real-world connections in a supportive classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons in both science and social studies aligned with district curriculum and standards Teach core science topics (life, earth, and physical science) and social studies topics (history, geography, civics, and culture) Create a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, discussion, and critical thinking Use hands-on activities, experiments, primary sources, and projects to enhance learning Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet individual needs Maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and staff Incorporate technology and digital tools into daily instruction Participate in professional development opportunities Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, Social Studies, or a related field Valid teaching certification in Louisiana (or enrollment in an approved alternative certification program) Experience teaching middle school students (preferred) Strong knowledge of both science concepts and social studies content Ability to engage students through interactive and differentiated instruction Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to support students with diverse learning needs Passion for helping students understand the world from both scientific and historical perspectives
Desired Skills:
Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.). Familiarity with using interactive whiteboards, tablets, and other tech tools to enhance learning. Willingness to learn new technologies and innovate in the classroom to improve student outcomes.
