POSITION
OVERVIEW
Morehouse Magnet School is seeking an engaging and innovative Elementary Social Studies Teacher (Grades 3-5) to deliver high-quality, inquiry-based instruction. The ideal candidate will foster critical thinking, civic awareness, and student engagement through standards-aligned, culturally responsive teaching in a collaborative, high-expectations environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver standards-aligned instruction based on Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies
Design engaging, inquiry-driven lessons that support critical thinking and civic understanding
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
Use data and assessments to guide instruction and monitor progress
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment aligned with PBIS expectations
Integrate technology and interdisciplinary strategies
Collaborate through PLCs and magnet initiatives
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and district policies
Engage families and stakeholders in student learning
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate (Grades 1-5 or Elementary Education 1-8) or eligibility through an LDOE-approved pathway
Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies
Demonstrated skills in classroom management, differentiated instruction, and data-driven teaching
Understanding of applicable state and federal education laws (FERPA, IDEA, Section 504)
Proficiency with instructional technology and student data systems
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Commitment to equity, student success, and professional growth
Candidates currently enrolled in an approved Teacher Preparation Program must submit documentation verifying program status, including proof of enrollment, completed coursework, and official Praxis exam scores (if applicable)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in education or related field
1-3 years of successful elementary teaching experience
Experience in a magnet or inquiry-based learning environment
Knowledge of Louisiana accountability systems and Tier 1 curriculum resources
Experience with MTSS/RTI and data analysis
Ability to integrate literacy into social studies instruction
Experience supporting diverse student populations
