Job Description

Position Objective:
The Social Studies teacher will plan, deliver, and assess high-quality instruction aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. This position exists to create an inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environment where every student can achieve their fullest potential. The Social Studies teacher will collaborate with colleagues, families, and the broader school community to promote student success, while upholding district policies, and professional standards.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for delivering high quality instruction and feedback and grading to students
Responsible for collaborating with special education teachers to differentiate curriculum and instruction
Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content
Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction
Responsible for mentoring students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate
Responsible for effective management of the classroom environment
Responsible for effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques
Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn
Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement
Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student earning, including, for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, and\or English language learners
Responsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individual regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, gender identity, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or homelessness
Performance of other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Appropriate MA Certification as an Educator in the Content and Grade Level Field
Candidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years). Candidates will need to apply for and pay for the DESE license as a condition of employment.
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
SEI Endorsement
Three (3) Years Teaching Experience
Demonstrated success in designing and delivering standards-based instruction aligned with the MA Curriculum Frameworks
Experience differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including English Learners and students with disabilities
Knowledge of data-driven instruction and use of assessment to inform teaching practices
Strong classroom management and positive behavior support skills
Familiarity with inclusive practices and culturally responsive teaching
Proficiency with technology, digital learning tools, and blended learning approaches
Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
Commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective practice
Ability to foster an engaging, supportive, and respectful classroom environment that promotes equity and high expectations for all students
Salary & Terms of Employment:
In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Collective Bargaining Agreement. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.
Salary Range:
$51,273 - $100,238
