This is a full-time non-exempt salaried position Welcome to Lawrence Public Schools Lawrence Public Schools is committed to ensuring that ALL students successfully master the content and skills necessary to graduate from high school, college, and/or career ready. These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.
Position Summary:
Spark Academy is seeking exceptional teachers to join our team who possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and have an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Teach 6 sections of History, may include World History, Civics and Citizenship, or Intervention/Acceleration courses
  • Work collaboratively to align curriculum to the rigor of the MA Curriculum Frameworks
  • Use data from formative and summative assessments to inform instruction
  • Collaborate with the teachers in the History department to align instruction to LHS priorities and to participate in data inquiry around student achievement and progress
  • Participate in showcasing instructional and student work samples
  • Participate in weekly/ biweekly instructional coaching sessions to improve instructional practices.
  • Communicate weekly with students and families around academic and behavioral progress.
  • Meet weekly with a grade-level content team and an interdisciplinary cohort
  • Collaborate with Special Education and ESL teachers to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Act as advisor to a group of 8-15 students.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the principal

  • Will to improve practice by taking and implementing frequent feedback
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred; appropriate Massachusetts DESE licensure required-this includes a passing score on the Communication and Literacy - Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s).
  • Teachers should hold an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement or be willing to get one within the first year of teaching
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience in a school setting serving a similar demographic preferred, but not required.
