At Mystic Valley, exceptional teachers, carefully selected curricula delivered with fidelity, high expectations, and a traditional pedagogical approach form the foundation of student success. Consistently ranked among the top public schools in Massachusetts, New England, and across the nation, Mystic Valley prepares students for outstanding post-secondary achievement. Students in grades K-12 adhere to a dress code and attend school for 200 instructional days each year. With a school day that is 60 minutes longer than most traditional public schools, Mystic Valley provides students with the opportunity to receive a truly world-class education. Job Description The Economics Teacher is responsible for delivering Mystic Valley Regional Charter School's Economics curriculum to students in Grades 11 and 12. Instruction is aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, emphasizing both rigorous content and effective instructional methodology. Responsibilities Implement the Economics curriculum with fidelity, including IB-aligned instruction where applicable Teach up to five classes daily, each meeting on a regular schedule Design and deliver lessons with clear objectives and measurable outcomes Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback, including progress reports and report cards Administer standardized assessments as required Collaborate with colleagues and leadership on curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices Maintain a structured and disciplined classroom environment aligned with the school's model Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by school leadership Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Economics (required) Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to analyze data, assess student performance, and adjust instruction accordingly Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to plan and deliver effective, standards-aligned instruction Commitment to upholding school policies and maintaining a structured learning environment Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment Additional Information This position reports to the Department Chair and is evaluated annually.
