Aug 24, 2026 Job Description History and Social Studies Teacher Willow Hill School is hiring a History and Social Studies Teacher for the School Year 2026-2027, with a start date of August 24, 2026. Founded in 1970, Willow Hill School provides a supportive and individualized educational program for middle and high school students who are capable of advancing along a strong academic curriculum but have experienced frustration in earlier school settings. Located in Sudbury, MA our school consists of students in grades 6 through 12.Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Teach 5-6 sections of US and World History to classes of up to 8 students
- Differentiate instruction and scaffold assignments to meet the needs of our diverse learning population
- Act as an advisor to a small group of 3-4 students
- Write progress reports and narratives detailing student progress
- Develop curriculum, instruction and student assessment
- Collaborate with teachers, faculty and staff to meet the individual needs of students with diverse learning needs
- Attend and actively participate in weekly Staff Meetings
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate efforts for student support
- Model a passion, expertise and excitement for History
- Maintain and communicate up to date student grades and academic progress
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a positive working and educational environment that supports the School's mission
- Attend all staff meetings, department meetings, professional development days, orientation, pre IEP's, and other appropriate meetings as they arise
- Other duties, as assigned
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's degree preferred
- Previous experience teaching children with learning differences or other special needs in a school setting
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and ability to work with others
