Job Description
Job Goal:
The Language-Based Teacher works as part of a team of school staff to ensure the success and growth of students in the LBC program.
Position Responsibilities:
Teach students specific skills and strategies to help them access curriculum
Conduct IEP meetings and complete all related paperwork in a timely fashion
Monitor student progress; revise IEP according to progress
Co-teach in regular education content area, or teach substantially separate subject
Prepare students for transition to post-high school life
Communicate with school personnel outside of the department
Communicate effectively with parents and other stakeholders
Job Qualifications:
Orton-Gillingham certification
Attendance at departmental and school-wide meetings
Requisite licensure as defined by the DESE and SEI Endorsement
Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A strong commitment to helping a wide variety of culturally diverse students achieve their full potential
Ability to support the development of culturally responsive programs and activities that promote student engagement, family engagement, community involvement and a positive school climate
