SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER

• GRADE 8WEST

SPRINGFIELD MIDDLE

SCHOOLResponsibilities:

• Teach Grade 8 social studies curriculum in accordance with state standards and district expectations
• Develop and implement lesson plans that promote critical thinking, historical analysis, civic understanding, and student engagement
• Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students
• Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and related service providers
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and other school-related responsibilities
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
• Massachusetts D.E.S.E. certification in Social Studies (Grades 58)
• Demonstrated knowledge of middle school social studies curriculum and instructional practices
• Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, students, and families
• Experience integrating technology into instruction preferred
• SEI Endorsement required.

Salary:
