SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER
  • GRADE 8 WEST
SPRINGFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL
Responsibilities:
  • Teach Grade 8 social studies curriculum in accordance with state standards and district expectations.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that promote critical thinking, historical analysis, civic understanding, and student engagement.
  • Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and related service providers.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and other school-related responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Massachusetts D.E.S.E. certification in Social Studies (Grades 5-8).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of middle school social studies curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, students, and families.
  • Experience integrating technology into instruction preferred.
  • SEI Endorsement required.
Salary:
Per Unit A Contract (salary range: $53,939.00
  • $100,108.
00)
