- GRADE 8 WEST
SPRINGFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL
Responsibilities:
- Teach Grade 8 social studies curriculum in accordance with state standards and district expectations.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that promote critical thinking, historical analysis, civic understanding, and student engagement.
- Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and related service providers.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and other school-related responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Massachusetts D.E.S.E. certification in Social Studies (Grades 5-8).
- Demonstrated knowledge of middle school social studies curriculum and instructional practices.
- Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, students, and families.
- Experience integrating technology into instruction preferred.
- SEI Endorsement required.
Salary:
Per Unit A Contract (salary range: $53,939.00- $100,108.
