JOB TITLE
Discovery Teacher (Project-Based, Multi-Sensory Instruction) Radcliffe Creek School | Chestertown, MD Radcliffe Creek School, the only school on the eastern shore, serving bright students with language-based learning differences in K-8, is seeking a creative, energetic, and innovative Discovery Teacher to lead one of the most dynamic and unique parts of our program. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to design and grow a hands-on, project-based program that brings science and social studies to life for students who learn best through doing, creating, and experiencing. Position Overview The Discovery Teacher leads a multi-sensory, project-based class that integrates science and social studies through engaging, six-week thematic rotations. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in an active, flexible environment and is passionate about experiential learning. The Discovery Teacher has the exciting opportunity and challenge to design meaningful learning experiences grounded in clear goals and standards, while also creating innovative, hands-on projects that allow students to explore, build, collaborate, and demonstrate understanding in authentic ways. This position offers a high degree of autonomy to shape units, select materials, and develop culminating projects that spark curiosity and deepen engagement. Key Responsibilities Design and implement interdisciplinary Discovery units in six-week rotations Develop hands-on, project-based learning experiences aligned with instructional goals Create engaging culminating projects that allow students to apply and demonstrate learning Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of learning profiles, including students with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences Incorporate multi-sensory strategies and movement into daily instruction Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and leadership to support student growth Foster a classroom environment rooted in curiosity, creativity, and care Assess and document student progress in meaningful and accessible ways Ideal Candidate Will Be Creative, energetic, and excited to ignite curiosity and joy in learning Experienced in project-based or experiential learning (flexible, hands-on instructional design) Comfortable balancing structure and autonomy—able to plan within goals while designing innovative experiences Skilled at engaging students who learn differently through movement, building, discussion, and exploration Highly organized, with the ability to manage materials, projects, and timelines Collaborative and reflective, with a growth mindset Passionate about working with students with learning differences Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred Teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level Experience with project-based learning, STEM, or interdisciplinary teaching preferred Experience working with students with learning differences strongly preferred Compensation and Benefits Health and HSA benefits available To Apply Please send a cover letter, resume/CV, and teaching philosophy to: Dr. Jennifer Durham, Head of School jdurham@radcliffecreekschool.org https:
