Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our team at SCMV Options @ Jackson High School. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore historical events, civic responsibilities, and cultural diversity while fostering critical thinking and analytical skills. This full-time position offers an opportunity to engage with students in a dynamic environment and contribute to their overall academic growth and development. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines. Teach a variety of social studies subjects, including history, geography, government, and economics. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters respect for diverse perspectives. Assess student progress through assignments, projects, tests, and other evaluation methods, providing timely feedback. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences and participate in faculty meetings and professional development. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding academic progress and behavioral issues. Incorporate technology and multimedia resources into lessons to enhance student learning and engagement. Organize and supervise extracurricular activities related to social studies, such as clubs, field trips, and community service projects. Stay current with educational trends and best practices in social studies education and continuously seek opportunities for professional growth. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field. Valid teaching certification in Social Studies for the appropriate grade level. Previous teaching experience preferred, but not required; new graduates are encouraged to apply. Strong knowledge of social studies content and pedagogy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Proficient in using technology for teaching and classroom management. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
