Job Summary Reed City High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a High School Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the complexities of history, geography, government, and economics while fostering critical thinking and analytical skills. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and achievement. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum goals. Teach various social studies subjects, including but not limited to U.S. History, World History, Government, and Economics. Create a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and active learning. Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth. Utilize diverse teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Foster critical thinking and discussion by encouraging students to analyze historical events and contemporary issues. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and any concerns. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and curriculum changes. Engage in school-wide activities and contribute to the school community through extracurricular programs and events. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification in Social Studies for grades 9-12. Strong knowledge of social studies content and pedagogy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment. Experience with technology integration in the classroom and familiarity with educational software. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Commitment to fostering a supportive and respectful learning environment for all students. Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred but not required.
