  • This is an onsite, in-person position located in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Candidates should apply only if they are able to be physically present and available to work onsite by the start date
  • STLCC is seeking Part-Time Faculty are members of the English department staff assigned for instruction.
Part-Time Faculty load involves teaching between 3 credit hours to 9 credit hours over all campuses in a given semester. Part-Time Faculty responsibilities involve activities in which a college teacher is expected to be engaged that are related to professional duties and responsibilities. Part-Time Faculty are expected to remain current with their instructional fields or disciplines through professional development activities and to update and revise their course outlines and materials to reflect changes in content and/or methodology. Further information pertaining to the position summary may be found in the Statement of Understandings relating to Provisions of Board Policy applicable to Part-Time Faculty. Primary Duties Performed Part-time Faculty duties and responsibilities normally include:
  • Formal course contact teaching hours.
  • Preparation and planning for instructing assigned classes in accordance with course objectives.
  • Preparing and correcting examinations and other student work assignments.
  • Scheduling student conferences to review individual student progress.
Qualifications/Experience Master's degree in Reading or a Master's and 18 graduate hours in Reading.
Qualifying subfields:
Instructional Strategies for Teaching Reading ; Analysis and Corrections of Reading Disabilities; Literacy Acquisition and Learning for Urban Studies; Reading Specialist Practicum I & II; Literacy Assessment to Guide Instruction ; Literacy for Adolescent Learners in the Content Area; Problems and Research in Teaching Reading Working Conditions Classroom, laboratory, or online instructional environment May require travel between campuses or instructional sites
Physical Requirements:
Negligible to moderate physical activity, which may include standing for extended periods, light lifting of instructional materials, and use of standard classroom or computer equipment.
