Cottonwood Day School Position Summary The Enrichment Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering engaging enrichment instruction that develops students' literacy, critical thinking, communication, cultural awareness, and presentation skills. Through novel studies and cultural exploration projects, the Enrichment Teacher creates a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and independent learning. The Enrichment Instructor works with students in small-group settings and adapts instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students while maintaining high expectations for participation and growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Literacy and Novel Study Instruction:

Facilitate engaging novel studies through read-alouds, guided discussions, journaling, and comprehension activities. Lead students in analyzing characters, plot, setting, themes, and predictions. Develop and maintain supplemental materials, including discussion guides, packets, and journal prompts. Encourage critical thinking and reflection through written and verbal responses. Monitor and support student engagement and comprehension throughout the reading process. Cultural Exploration Instruction Design and facilitate project-based learning experiences focused on world cultures, geography, history, traditions, arts, music, food, language, and other cultural topics. Teach students how to conduct age-appropriate research using reliable sources. Instruct students in proper citation practices and responsible use of information. Support students in creating presentations using various formats, including posters, papers, slide presentations, videos, and other creative mediums. Guide students in public speaking, presentation skills, audience participation, and constructive peer feedback.
