Job Description
Overview •Christian School - Looking for Christian Teachers! Join our dynamic educational community as a High School History Teacher, where your passion for history and dedication to student growth will inspire the next generation of learners. In this role, you will deliver engaging lessons that bring historical events to life, foster critical thinking, and cultivate a love for learning. You will play a vital part in shaping students' understanding of the past while developing their skills in research, writing, and analysis. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive history curricula aligned with state standards and AP style guidelines, ensuring clarity and engagement. Design innovative lesson plans that incorporate learning technology, creative writing, and instructional design principles to enhance student understanding. Facilitate classroom discussions, manage behavior effectively, and employ classroom management techniques to create a positive learning atmosphere. Assess student progress through standardized testing, research projects, essays, and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback to support growth. Mentor students individually or in small groups, offering academic advising and tutoring to reinforce learning objectives. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school initiatives such as literacy education and special education programs. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, lesson plans, and other administrative documentation in accordance with education administration standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in History, Education, or a related field; advanced degrees or higher education teaching experience preferred. Proven classroom experience with high school students; private school experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of history content areas including American history, world history, and relevant social sciences such as linguistics and journalism. Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style for academic writing and copy editing skills for student assignments. Experience with learning technology platforms, instructional design tools, and library services to support diverse learning needs. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and organizational skills to manage lesson planning and classroom activities effectively. Knowledge of classroom management strategies including behavior management techniques tailored for adolescent learners. Ability to adapt teaching methods for students with special education needs or those requiring differentiated instruction such as Montessori or behavior management approaches.
