At Mount Prospect Academy, we believe great teaching starts with strong relationships. Ashuelot Valley Academy is a 220-day, non-public special education school serving students in grades 5-12. Our small, supportive classrooms allow teachers the time and space to focus on what truly matters: helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. This Social Studies teaching role is ideal for an educator who values collaboration, creativity, and making a meaningful difference for students who need it most. What You'll Do- Deliver engaging, hands-on Social Studies instruction
- Create a safe, structured, and welcoming classroom environment
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students
- Support and implement IEP goals in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Use proactive classroom management and in-the-moment problem solving
- Track progress, provide feedback, and celebrate student growth
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, clinicians, and school leadership

- Teach assigned academic courses following the school curriculum
- Provide instruction, grading, assessment, and progress reporting
- Implement IEP and ITP goals through instruction and collaboration
- Maintain lesson plans, unit plans, grading, and required documentation
- Monitor and implement classroom behavioral supports as needed
- Request and manage instructional materials and supplies
- Supervise and collaborate with paraprofessionals
- Participate in curriculum development, professional development, and trainings
- Attend faculty meetings and contribute to school initiatives
- Assist in planning school field trips and experiential learning activities
- Maintain student confidentiality and appropriate communication
- Represent Mount Prospect Academy professionally with families and community partners
- Follow all organizational policies and procedures

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age
- Bachelor's Degree Required
