Job DescriptionTeacher in Residence (TiR)KIPP New Jersey has designed the Teacher in Residence program to help aspiring teachers to get hands-on experience and the certification they need to become excellent teachers at KIPP's world-class schools. As a TiR, you will fuse theory and practice as you work alongside experienced teachers in the classroom while earning your teaching certification. Here's what you'll be doing:
Joining our schools as a teacher in residence comes with the opportunity for significant growth and development but with great power comes great responsibility. Your role as a Teacher in Residence (TiR) will involve a number of responsibilities which include but are not limited to: Work closely with an experienced lead classroom teacher to create lesson plans, teach, and reflect on lessons as well as assess and collect and use data to informBuild positive relationships with students and families to become part of your school communityProvide small group instructionAssist with diagnostic and progress monitoring testing across the schoolCommunicate consistently with families about student progressAttend and actively participate in professional development opportunities to support continuous growthQualificationsSkills and MindsetsA belief in every student's limitless potential. An interest in working with students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.

Hold a valid teaching certification in NJ -or-Meet The GPA RequirementGPA RequirementIf you graduated after September 2016:
Have a bachelor's or master's GPA on a conferred degree that is ≥ 3.0 -or- Have a bachelor's or master's GPA on a conferred degree that is between 2.75 and 3.0 AND demonstrate that you have passed all required Praxis exams with a +10% passing score (super scores)If you graduated before September 2016:
Have a bachelor's or master's GPA on a conferred degree that is ≥ 2.75 Additional InformationCompensation & BenefitsKIPP NJ offers competitive salaries to newly hired lead teachers. Salaries are based on prior experience and in accordance with certification requirements. KIPP NJ offers a competitive salary of $48,000 for teacher in residence positions in Newark.
