In this role, you will create engaging lesson plans, foster critical thinking, and cultivate a classroom environment that encourages curiosity and active learning. Your expertise will help students develop a well-rounded perspective on societal issues, preparing them to become informed and responsible citizens. Duties Develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned with educational standards, incorporating innovative instructional strategies and learning technology tools Deliver engaging lessons on history, geography, civics, economics, and related topics using AP style and effective teaching methods Social studies teaching certificate Facilitate classroom discussions that promote critical thinking, cultural awareness, and respectful dialogue among students Assess student progress through standardized testing, projects, essays, and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback to support growth. Incorporate research skills, literacy education, and creative writing techniques into lessons to foster analytical thinking and communication skills Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and school-wide initiatives to enhance educational quality Requirements Bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education, History, Geography, or related field; high school education teaching experience preferred Proven classroom experience with diverse student populations Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies including standardized testing preparation Familiarity with AP style guidelines, Chicago Manual of Style for editing academic work, and copy editing skills Experience integrating learning technology tools into lesson plans for interactive learning experiences Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students and collaborate with colleagues effectively Organizational skills necessary for lesson planning, instructional delivery, record keeping, and educational administration tasks Knowledge of special education practices and behavior management techniques is advantageous Ability to adapt teaching methods for students with varying needs including literacy education or other specialized approaches Join us in shaping the next generation of informed citizens!
