The ideal candidate will bring innovative instructional strategies, a strong understanding of curriculum development, and a commitment to nurturing each student's academic growth. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating diverse teaching methods and learning technologies to enhance student engagement. Deliver engaging lessons on history, geography, civics, and economics that promote critical thinking and active participation. Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing timely feedback to support continuous improvement. Integrate AP style guidelines and Chicago Manual of Style principles into classroom materials and student assignments to promote high-quality writing skills. Mentor students individually and in groups, fostering a supportive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and respectful dialogue. Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects, incorporate research skills, and implement best practices in instructional design. Manage classroom behavior effectively through proactive behavior management strategies, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. Utilize learning technology tools for instruction, assessment, and communication with students and parents. Support literacy education by integrating creative writing exercises, proofreading activities, and research projects into lessons. Participate in professional development opportunities related to education administration, special education needs, or Montessori methodologies to continually enhance teaching practices. Skills Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum development across grades 6-9 with familiarity in standardized testing preparation. Excellent communication skills for effective instruction, student engagement, and collaboration with staff and families. Proven classroom management skills that foster a positive learning environment conducive to academic success. Expertise in instructional design, lesson planning, and integrating learning technology tools into daily lessons. Experience working with diverse student populations, including those requiring special education accommodations or behavior management support. Demonstrated ability to mentor students academically and personally while promoting literacy education through creative writing and research activities. Familiarity with AP style writing standards, Chicago Manual of Style guidelines, proofreading techniques, and journalistic practices such as journalism fundamentals. Background in higher education teaching or private school experience is preferred but not required; a passion for continuous learning is essential.
