About us: Renaissance Charter School 2 is a new charter middle school in Elmhurst, NY. We are professional, agile, innovative and our goal is to identify a passionate and experienced teacher to join our team as a middle school Social Studies & English Language Arts Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing school and help shape our curriculum and instructional approach from the ground up. We're looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and compassionate educator to join our team of middle school teachers. A successful candidate will be responsible for teaching middle school classes and participating in building a meaningful school community. The ideal candidate for this position has a background in education, has exceptional communication skills, and a passion for helping others. We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Middle School Social Studies & English Language Arts Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a passion for engaging students in history, geography, reading, writing, and vocabulary while fostering critical thinking and cultural awareness. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant educational community, utilizing innovative teaching methods and learning technologies to inspire young learners. Prior experience in classroom management, curriculum development, and working with diverse student populations is highly valued. Candidates with a background in higher education teaching, private school settings, or special education are encouraged to apply. We are looking for a 7th grade and an 8th grade teacher.
Duties:
Develop and implement comprehensive social studies and ELA curricula aligned with state standards and guidelines. Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate instructional design principles, learning technology, and differentiated instruction techniques. Utilize effective classroom management strategies to create a positive learning environment conducive to student growth and participation. Incorporate creative writing, journalism, and research activities to enhance literacy and critical thinking skills among students. Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide timely feedback. Mentor students in academic advising, literacy education, and behavior management to support their overall development. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, school events, and educational initiatives such as extracurricular programs. Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding progress. Engage in ongoing professional development related to education administration, instructional strategies, or specialized areas like special education.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, History, English or related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification for middle school. Proven experience working with middle school students in classroom settings; private school experience is advantageous. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design methodologies. Proficiency in using learning technology tools and integrating them into daily instruction. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students effectively and collaborate with colleagues. Organizational skills necessary for managing multiple classes, assessments, and administrative tasks. Experience with behavior management techniques and differentiated instruction strategies for diverse learners including those requiring special education accommodations. Pay:
$78,000.00 - $104,000.00 per year
